Release Notes
Hey gang,
I've begun uploading some of the files that we're putting together for the Silverlight Blueprint for SharePoint - based on Silverlight 2 RTM.
What you'll see included in this release are:
1. Source code
2. Screencasts showing you some of the essentials of the blueprint.
3. In some cases, I've also added decks to walk you through what to do at a high level.
Also, some of the narrated screencasts from the Beta 2 release are still applicable, specifically the Hello World and Slider Control, which can be found here:
http://www.codeplex.com/SL4SP/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=16420
.
Make sure that before you start downloading and reviewing any of the blueprints, you have your development environment set up. To set up your environment, you'll need:
1. WSS 3.0 & SP1
2. MOSS 2007 & SP1 (Enterprise Edition)
3. VS 2008 & SP1
4. Visual Studio Extensions for WSS 1.2 (VSeWSS 1.2)
5. Silverlight 2 Runtime
http://silverlight.net/default.aspx
6. Silverlight 2 SDK
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=8D933343-038F-499C-986C-C3C7E87A60B3&displaylang=en
7. Silverlight 2 Tools for VS 2008 SP1
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=c22d6a7b-546f-4407-8ef6-d60c8ee221ed&displaylang=en
Once you've set this up, you'll also need to amend your web.config file. I've uploaded an example of one I've used in my own sandbox environment so you can see where the major changes are.
A couple of other references that might help you out:
1. A recent presentation I gave at DevConnections which focused on SL and SP integration:
http://cid-40a717fc7fcd7e40.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/SharePointConnections/Final%7C_Presentations.zip
. (It's bundled with a couple of other presentations.
2. Tim Heuer's blog, in case you're looking for more SL stuff:
http://timheuer.com/blog/
.
3.
http://mssharepointdeveloper.com
where you can get a ton more SharePoint developer training and resources.
Note
(01/15/09): I just discovered that the zipped files that were loaded to Codeplex were corrupted. I'll scrub the project files and reload them in the next day. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Enjoy!
Steve
Reviews for this release
This really helped me get started using Silverlight in WSS 3.0. Although there were a few differences between the helpfile walk-throughs and the actual code, it is an excellant grouping of information.
